Letter from Cheongsoon, 1850-1900

Scope and Contents

A letter in two parts from Cheongsoon (Ch'ang-shun, Changshun) to Mr Hsiao-jen (Xiaoren) instructing that the cotton yarn and camlet bought from Matheson should be taken to Cheongsoon hong (Ch'ang- shun, Changshun) if a ship can be found for this purpose. The year is not given.

A notice from Hsu Fa-mao (Xu Famao) to 50 shops inviting them to the Silk and Tea Guild for a hearing of the issue at stake between his shop and Ewo Co. with regard to compensation for substandard cotton yarn. The document is in four parts: title, text, a copy of the guarantee note dated in the 4th month and 16th day, and the 50 shop names. The year is not given.
